September 28th, 2010

Four southern Mexican states were drenched by the remnants of Tropical Storm Matthew on Monday, the National Water Commision (CONAGUA) said.

State Chiapas was worst hit with 257 mm of rain, followed by neighboring Oaxaca with 191 mm, and Gulf of Mexico state Veracruz with 182 mm. Tabasco was comparatively less hit with 101 mm of rain, the agency said in a statement.

CONAGUA also published a photo of Matthew changing into multiple small storms mainly over Tabasco and Chiapas on its website, and it suggested people living along riverside on the boundary between the two states move to higher ground as the water “will rise very rapidly.”

The storm, which is already weakened, passed through Central American country Nicaragua on Friday and made landfalls there. Then it crossed into Honduras and toppled utility poles, causing a power outage lasting for hours.

Pakistan protests against NATO aerial engagements

September 28th, 2010

Pakistan has strongly protested to ISAF/NATO on the two incidents of aerial engagements from the Afghanistan side into Pakistani territory by ISAF/NATO helicopters, the Foreign Ministry said Monday.

A NATO spokesman in Afghanistan says that the airstrikes into Pakistan were carried out after the militants attacked a small Afghan security outpost near the border.

The spokesman justified the rare NATO strikes based on “the right of self-defense.”

“These incidents are a clear violation and breach of the UN mandate under which ISAF operates,” a Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

“The said mandate ‘terminates/finishes’ at the Afghanistan border. There are no agreed ‘hot pursuit’ rules. Any impression to the contrary is not factually correct. Such violations are unacceptable,” he said in a statement.

He said ISAF/NATO has been asked not to participate in any military action that violates the UN mandate and infringes upon Pakistan’s sovereignty. “In the absence of immediate corrective measures, Pakistan will be constrained to consider response options,” he said.

The spokesman said Pakistan has always emphasized the need for coordinated and joint action against forces inimical to regional and global peace.

“Pakistan has boldly and at a great cost countered terrorists. Element of trust followed by capacity enhancement of Pakistan’s armed forces was stressed. The demarche has been relayed to NATO Headquarters in Brussels,” he said.

Meanwhile Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik Monday described as violation of the country’s sovereignty the NATO helicopters airstrikes into Pakistan, which reportedly killing more than 50 militants.

A senator from the main opposition Muslim League-Nawaz party led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, agitated the issue in the Senate, upper house of the parliament, and termed the strikes as a serious issue.

U.S., ASEAN leaders issue joint statement on deepening ties

September 24th, 2010

Leaders of the United States and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Friday issued a joint statement aimed to deepen their relations, in the wake of the second U.S.-ASEAN leaders’ meeting.

The statement said ASEAN, a regional bloc grouping ten Southeast Asian states, appreciated the United States’ sustained engagement with its members.

The two sides agreed to further deepen the current partnership and welcomed the idea to elevate it to a “strategic level,” said the statement.

They also welcome a rebound of trade between the two sides, said the statement, citing a 28-percent increase of two-way ASEAN- U.S. trade in goods in the first six months of this year.

The 25-point statement covers a wide range of issues, including climate change, economy, and non-proliferation.

In his opening speech at the meeting, U.S. President Barack Obama vowed to deepen U.S.-ASEAN relations, saying his country has an enormous stake in the region.

“As President, I’ve, therefore, made it clear that the United States intends to play a leadership role in Asia,” he said.

Obama said the cooperation between the United States and ASEAN will focus on creating sustainable economic growth, as well as on deepening political and security cooperation.

Obama, since taking office in January 2009, has been stepping up efforts to restore U.S. influence in Southeast Asia, a region ignored by the previous Bush administration.

Having met with all ten ASEAN leaders for the first time last year in Singapore, Obama has confirmed that he will attend the East Asia summit due to be held next year in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia.

So today, the troy ounce, which is used for the quotation of precious metals, among other things for gold and silver per troy ounce oz t’s symbol, which is equal to one twelfth of the pound troy, after the city of Troyes, is 31.103 4768 grams in troy weight system. The ounce is a former unit of mass, which is still used in some countries, the value of an ounce is between 24 and 33 grams.

The ounce of gold Gold is a substance listed in globally (Gold Exchange Standard) and have been since the year 1944. Global prices of gold are fixed in U.S. dollars per ounce. Gold price, which continues to climb

September 18th, 2010

The ounce of gold on the market reached a historic high! yesterday November 16, 2009. The rise of gold is found by a dollar that is weak! Yesterday in London and New York, an ounce of gold was 1,140 dollars.

The gold highlights rising, central banks, are not foreign to
this increase. We learned in early November that the Central Bank ofIndia, had bought the IMF, International Monetary Fund, 200 tons of gold for $ 6.7 billion, in fact IMF needs money to help countries in the monetary turmoil. The China also buys lots of gold, no longer trust the U.S. economy. To diversify its reserves, Sri Lanka, also bought gold during the past week.

The gold price , rises as there are many fears from investors on the announced resumption but especially by inflation. In one week the price of gold, rose 3.15% and the gold price rose 7.27% on the month.

It begs the question if an ounce of gold will reach next year’s worth $ 2000! Some analysts predict that the rising price of gold will continue as the U.S. dollar will continue to go down, as that the U.S. central bank, the Fed will not increase its key interest rate. Keeping interest rates at levels that are extremely low, the risks of inflation, the buying by central banks, and declining mine production of gold, investors worldwide have thus all turned to gold. At all times we must know that gold is and will remain a safe haven.
