How does the insurance company find out about moving violations?

August 19th, 2010

My understanding is that when you get a moving violation (e.g, a speeding ticket), the police or the courts or whoever will notify your insurance company. When your insurance company finds out and finds out about the points that are now on your license, they raise your insurance premium. However, a friend tells me that he’s received several speeding tickets, that his insurance company has never found out (meaning no one is notifying his insurance company), and that his premium has therefore never gone up. How is that possible?)

Answer :

hes got to be lying or had lawyer take his tickets to court and won!
tickets are sent to the states motor vechicle division, thats how they find out about your tickets!

What is the difference between a compulsive hoarder and a slob?

August 17th, 2010

Answer:

Someone who is a slob is just messy, they are lazy and have no desire to clean up after themselves. They aren’t hording items, they are just too busy with other things (or too lazy) to sit down and clean up a room. When they finally have to clean, they have no problem bagging up all their junk and tossing it in the dumpster.

Hoarding is completely different. Hoarders feel emotional attachment to the things they find and keep, as if each one is a person and not an inanimate object. When hoarders are faced with the task of clearing out a room it is emotionally distressing to them, because they literally feel as if they are throwing away people, not objects. They feel attached, as if those items have feelings like they do.

Imagine the way you feel about an item you have that has strong sentimental value to you. If someone told you that you had to throw it away, you might be understandably upset. Maybe it was something that belonged to someone you loved and lost, or something you had from childhood, or something else that for whatever reason has a lot of sentimental value to you. That is similar to the way hoarders feel about EVERYTHING they own. It is irrational, but that is how they feel, so you can understand why having someone tell them to get rid of those things would be upsetting to them.

You will find that a lot of hoarders have undergone some sort of traumatic loss in their life. The hoarding behavior results from a genetic predisposition coupled with some kind of environmental trigger to set them off. That loss makes them hold onto everything they have, out of fear of losing something important again. This is not always the case for all hoarders, but it is a cause for many of them. Even if you just watch the show “Hoarders” you will very often see that in their life history they have lost someone very important to them, and it caused a lot of lingering emotional trauma.

So in short, the key difference between a slob and a hoarder is everything. How they view the items they keep, and how they view getting rid of them. A slob recognizes that they have junk everywhere, and when they finally get down to the task of cleaning up they have no problem getting rid of it. A hoarder does not view all of their belongings as junk, they are all special to them (even the things we would view as garbage, like old food), and they become highly emotionally distressed at the thought of throwing those things away.

Hope that helps!

Remedies for sleep paralysis?

August 17th, 2010

(I’ve had nights with sleep paralysis every now and then while growing up ever since I was a child. I am currently 17 and I’ve just had my first encounter with sleep paralysis for the first time in about two years. In my earlier encounters with this, I’ve never had felt the presence of supernatural beings. All I can see was pitch black with my eyes closed. When it first happened to me when I was 10, I just told myself to relax whether I die or wake up back again since there was no other option and struggling would be worse. Now for the first time in three years with an encounter of sleep paralysis, I’ve finally felt the presence of a being within my dream. Note that this was the first time where I actually could see anything, I was lying in bed with a blanket over my face and felt somebody walking over me. It seemed quite realistic. At that moment I was thinking maybe I didn’t receive enough oxygen under the blanket which caused me to be low on energy preventing me to move. For all I know, somebody was above me so I struggled to swing my right arm to punch whatever was above my blanket. I actually turned out to break out of the paralysis in the dream and swung my fist across the being which appeared to be a banshee. Right there I realized it was way too out of hand to be a dream so I relaxed in the dream and woke up just fine. I would to know if there is a remedy to curing sleep paralysis because I fear these may cause me to have a heart attack if I am ever frightened like that again in my sleep.)

Answer:

Unfortunately the only known remedy for sleep paralysis is relaxation before bed.

During sleep paralysis, you experience hallucinations. It’s nothing to do with psychosis. It’s caused by a stage of sleep which makes the person able to see (they can open their eyes and look round the room and KNOW where they are) but they are completely paralysed and unable to move. It doesn’t mean the person is mentally ill or becoming so. It can happen to absolutely anybody at any time and the cause is unknown although it is understood that stress and anxiety are big triggers.

Despite being able to see, they are still asleep and cannot choose to wake up to snap out of the episode – nor can they choose to go into a deeper stage of sleep to overcome it that way.

I suffer from sleep paralysis and see flashing lights, hear voices and noises and experience sensations like spinning, rolling, falling, pressure on my body like somebody is touching me. All these hallucinations look, feel and sound completely real and at the time, the person is usually unable to tell that they are hallucinating.

The mind works in some amazing – and some very frightening ways, at times.

Do you think i am depressed?

August 17th, 2010

(for the past few months i haven’t been feeling like myself at all but its gotten worse the past few weeks. i hate being around my family everything they do annoys me but i used to love hanging out with them. i always just feel like being alone or with my friends but i haven’t even been able to because all of them are away this summer. i feel really alone like theres no one to turn to and have been crying myself to sleep every night because i’m so unhappy with my life but i’m not even sure why i’m so unhappy…..i never even answer peoples texts anymore because i just dont feel like dealing with them do you think im depressed?)

Answer:

No. Not at all. I think you’re bored. You’re 14 and that’s a tough age. You’re not interested in things you used to be, yet, you’re afraid to pursue other things. It’s called growing up. It’s a phase. If all your friends are away, i know it can be hard. You’re not depressed at all. You feel lonely because you’re probably used to having the social contacts with your friends. But if they aren’t around this summer, of course you’ll feel lonely. We all go through the stage as a teenager where we don’t want to spend time with our parents anymore. Most kids go through this about your age. All of a sudden it’s uncool to hang with mom and dad. You want to do your own things. Perfectly normal. You also miss your friends. Naw, you’re not depressed at all. Just a normal kid going through normal stuff.

Anyone else had a severe cervical pain?

August 11th, 2010

i recently had a trip to the ER from shock symptoms/ fever/hot/cold flashes, naseau and severe lower abdominal pain, and they believe it might have to do with my cervix, from insertion of a menstrual cup.
Anyone else have this issue with their cervix?

Answer :

It could also be a bladder infection, which causes extreme pain in the same vicinity. I have gotten bladder infections from having pap smears before, so its’ very possible to get it from having a menstrual cup inserted. But in any case, maybe get the cup removed and get treatment in the way of antibiotics…which by the way could lead to a yeast infection which you could control by taking an acidophiles supplement while and after taking antibiotics.

Have period while swimming?

August 11th, 2010

(When summer camp starts for me in a week, there’s a lake we can swim in. My period are almost always light, and the water is dark blue. I can’t use tampons because my mom is afraid of me knowing anything at all about sex (I’m 14 by the way O_o) and uhmmmm…Yeah. If you don’t understand how that’s related, forget it. My mom is crazy.

So if the water is dark and my period is light, would it be okay to swim? Thanks)

Answer :

I think you should probably try a tampon. Maybe you should talk to your mom, because I’m fourteen also, and I know that it’s really important that you know everything you can about it so you’re prepared. We don’t want some Spring Awakening stuff to happen. Anyway, explain to your mom the situation, maybe she’ll be more open about it than you think. But if she’s not, you can MAYBE swim, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll be pretty uncomfortable and paranoid about it the whole time, and won’t have very much fun. Also, you could try to use a tampon on your own. (Borrow from a friend or something, but that may not be a good suggestion)
I wish there was more I could do to help.

How do i tell my older brother about my period i just staterd i live with my older bother his a nurse?

August 11th, 2010

(he is at work right now help where close but iv never talked to him bout that should i till him and will he get mad at me help)

Answer :

Trust me, If he is a nurse he has heard everything and you have nothing to be embarrassed about. If you need to tell him and you are having a hard time telling him to his face you should try and write him a quick note and just say “I didn’t know how to tell you this but we need to go to the store to buy some pads or tampons because my period has started” Or something like that, I don’t know exactly how you might want to word that but you do need to tell him so you can start getting pads or tampons…I used toilet paper for like 3 days because I didn’t want to tell my mom and it wasn’t fun.
Anyways I hope everything works out! If you need anything else just message me I am glad to help.
