Young Marmalde use GPS to improve road safety
January 16th, 2010
Young Marmalade, the specialist car insurer for young people, has taken a new step in its efforts to reduce the number of accidents on British roads.
Working in partnership with i-Kube, (developed by Motaquote and Royal & Sun Alliance Group), the GPS device will charge drivers £45 for driving between 11pm and 5am, the worst time for traffic accidents.
In November the firm announced its intention to try and decrease the number of accidents at this time, 90% of which involve young men.
Nick Moger, co-founder of Young Marmalade, described the move as providing an incentive for young people to leave their cars at home whilst on a night out by making car insurance cheaper if they do so.
Last month Young Marmalade won the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, a rare move as the award typically goes to a public service or non-profit organisation.
